Firefox Download Manager Integration
V. 1.1.1.1 "Mass Media Downloader"
Main good news are:
- FlashGot Media statusbar icon, appearing when intercepted streams are available. Left click downloads all the streams of the page, right click opens a contextual menu for individual choice.
- Restored depositfiles.com support after service layout change.
- Improved FlashGot Media command intercepts streaming video and audio clips while they're playing and sends them to your download manager. Heavily tested on Youtube movies, it works with many other kinds of content as well.
- Download Studio support (trial download here).
- Improved "Built in" support.
- Windows visual download managers are now fully supported on Linux and Mac OS X through Wine and Darwine (tested with FlashGet and Orbit Downloader on Ubuntu 8.0.4). You can disable Wine support setting the flashgot.useWine about:config preference to false.
- FlashGot API and mouse tracking are more gesture friendly: any gesture starting from a link or performed while a selection
is active will "smartly" trigger either FlashGot All or FlashGot Selection if configured to call
gFlashGot.download(). - Batch download support for many anonymize/redirection services (anonym.to, tinyurl.com, moourl.com, anonymz.com, shorten.ws, tubeurl.com)
- Batch download support for link protection services such as ftp2share.net, rapidbolt.com, linkbank.eu, linkbucks.com and rsprotect.comlink-protector.com, stealth.to and lix.in.
- Batch download support for megaupload.com, rapidshare.com and depositfiles.com registered accounts.

FlashGot offers also a Build Gallery functionality which helps to synthetize full media galleries in one page, from serial contents originally scattered on several pages, for easy and fast "download all".
Important notice!
Do not tell us or others that "FlashGot doesn't work" if you have no download manager installed or,
worse, if you don't know what a download manager is.
If it is not clear enough, let's put it in bold letters:
in order to use this extension,
YOU REALLY NEED AN EXTERNAL DOWNLOAD MANAGER
(pick yours in the dozen listed above).
FlashGot was born only to integrate Firefox with external download manager programs:
no wonder that if no download manager is installed, FlashGot does not work!
Motivation
Since I switched from MS Internet Explorer to a serious browser, I've had only one regret: I've been missing the ability to handle "massive downloads" through a multithreaded, file splitting download manager.
In IE there was a "Download all with MyNice DownloadManager" menu item, which delivered every link on a web page to the download manager, ready to be choosen and downloaded in batch.
There was nothing like this on Mozilla/Firefox, so I decided to build my solution with my own hands... and it works pretty well (at least for me).
Now, after many releases, FlashGot is probably the most advanced form of browser integration for download managers, often better than the native one provided for IE, featuring:
- a "FlashGot selection" command to selectively download items you highlight on the page (even pure textual links!)
- a Build Gallery command, helping you to auto-generate complete media gallery from partial ones to download at once all the contents in a serie.
- Convenient shortcuts and hooks for single downloads, like Alt+Click on a link and automatic interception of unknown content types, giving you the chance to override the default download manager when it is about to start.
